  • #WorkingWoman #ProTip ✅ Work is stressful! When you spend the vast majority of your days at the same place with the same people trying to solve the same complex problems — something will eventually piss you off — and if you’re a woman working in a male-dominated field, chances are one of the men will think it’s a good idea to tell you to “just relax” when this happens. If you’re a normal woman, just reading that sentence likely has already filled you with rage — so here’s 5 tips on how to relax when someone tells you to relax! 🥰
.
( 1 ) Say “Thank You” — Thank him for telling you to relax. Add that you hadn’t thought to do that yet, so his suggestion is very helpful. Maintain unblinking, direct eye contact and a BIG SMILE 😀 the entire time.
.
( 2 ) Tell a Joke — Break the tension and show you’re relaxed by telling a joke. Stick to something lighthearted and funny like, “the last time my husband told me to relax he died.”
.
( 3 ) Make an Excuse — Tell him you will relax as soon as you’re done doing another task that is physiologically impossible to do on command, like making yourself not cry when you chop onions.
.
( 4 ) Take a Break — Go take a break to relax. Never come back, never stop relaxing.
.
( 5 ) Explain Yourself — Explain why you’re upset and why telling you to “just relax” isn’t helpful. Men love this one because it gives them the opportunity to explain it back to you for 20 minutes, which is typically enough time for you to tune him out and actually calm down.
  • When I die, I want my grandchildren to look back at my legacy and think to themselves, “Wow, she did such a good job making men feel comfortable.”
